Director of Music
We are looking to appoint an exceptional individual to the post of Director of Music in this successful and thriving school. Wellington is renowned for the quality of its music and this is a very important aspect of school life. The successful candidate will be a first class musician, with the ability to inspire the whole school community with a love of music making.
The Director of Music has responsibility for all aspects of music – curricular, extra-curricular and performance – throughout this 3 – 18 school. Music and Music Technology are presented at National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher levels and the person appointed will have the knowledge, the skills and the confidence to teach these popular courses. In addition, the Director of Music is expected to organise and deliver a full programme of extra-curricular music, covering a broad range of genres, and to oversee the schedule of individual instrumental lessons, delivered by a team of more than 20 specialist instructors. The school show is just one of the musical highlights in the calendar and outstanding recent productions include Les Miserables, Chicago and Phantom of the Opera. Music is also showcased annually at the end of year Prizegiving ceremony, and celebrated at other events, including memorable Christmas and Summer concerts.
The position is full-time and commences in August 2021.
