S3 Historians Visit John Knox’s House and Holyrood Palace

Last week, Ms Hyslop, Mr Smith and Mr Ledingham accompanied the S3 historians on their trip to John Knox’s House and Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh.

Pupils are currently studying the Reign of Mary, Queen of Scots and the Scottish Reformation as part of their National 5 History course. The trip was highly engaging for pupils, with both centres linking in very well with their studies. Highlights of the trip were gaining an insight into Knox’s personal life and visiting Mary’s bedchamber to see the scene of Riccio, her loyal Secretary’s murder. Pupils also enjoyed their tourist walk down the Royal Mile passing the Scottish Parliament and, of course, a short visit to Starbucks (established circa 1971 – so may even be a part of the history tours quite soon!).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
