On Friday, the 10th of June, the Junior School celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday in style!
Katie Thomson’s 90 year old Granny, Mrs Thomson, was guest of honour along with five other guests from Creggan Bhan Nursing Home. The ladies’ ages ranged from 90 to 97 and they marvelled at the pupils’ party outfits and decorated crowns while they enjoyed tea and strawberry tarts. Maxwell Wylie and Marc McCann trumpeted “God Save The Queen” and after everyone sang”Happy Birthday”, the birthday cakes were cut. Mrs Crawford of Dowhill gifted a beautiful crown cake and there were cupcakes for all, donated by the Wellington School Association.
After a parade modelling their crowns and ties, children enjoyed strawberries and cream andlemonade in the garden. The disco was such a great success that the Fire Brigade came along too..!
There were many fun activities including nail and face painting, pin the crown on the Queen, a feed the corgis game as well as an ice cream cart.[/vc_column_text]
