Personal and social development is considered to be a fundamental aspect of the education of the whole child and it is essentially concerned with life skills. The personal and social education course contributes to that development by aiming to help pupils to have a positive regard for self and for others, to learn skills to enable them to participate effectively and safely in society, to consider their values and the consequences of these and to take increasing responsibility for their own lives.

The Form Tutor will deliver the course, with support from outside agencies where appropriate, for example, the police will give a drugs awareness presentation and the school nurse will deal with certain aspects of health education. Individual, group and class activities will be used and discussion will be actively encouraged.

Primary 7 topics include:
You and Your Feelings
You and Your Time

First Aid
