HIGHER
Entry Level:
Standard Grade Physics at Credit level.
Summary of Course Content
The course is made up of three mandatory units:
MECHANICS & PROPERTIES OF MATTERS
This unit involves vectors, equations of motion, Newton’s
laws, momentum and impulse, density and pressure and the gas
laws.
ELECTRICITY & ELECTRONICS
This unit involves electric fields, resistors in circuits,
alternating current and voltage, capacitance and analogue
electronics.
RADIATION & MATTER
This unit involves waves, refraction of light, optoelectronics
and semiconductors and nuclear physics. Throughout the course,
students are involved in practical activities and they are
required to write reports on experimental work.
Assessment & Examinations
Each unit is assessed internally by means of an end-of-unit
test and the submission of a practical report (the write up
of an experiment). There is also an external exam, which is
used to determine the grade, (A, B or C).
Folio/Project Work:
