Standard Grade German at Credit level, including Writing.

Summary of Course Content
The Course is made up of two units: a Language unit (80 hours) and an Extended Reading and Viewing unit (40 hours). The Language unit covers three main themes: Lifestyles, Education and Work and The Wider World. The materials you will use aim to help you to increase your vocabulary and range of expression and to help you to form and express your own ideas. They will allow you to develop mastery of the structure of the language and to improve your translation skills. Your ability to write in German will increase and you will learn to speak flexibly and in more depth about the topics being studied. The Extended Reading and Viewing unit aims to help you to improve your Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing skills through the study of a longer text.

Assessment & Examinations
Internal Assessment of the Language unit will cover Speaking, Listening, Reading and there will be some assessment approximately every ten weeks. For the Extended Reading and Viewing unit, you will write a short report on your chosen book. External Assessment consists of papers in Listening, Reading and Writing. The internal Speaking test is also used for your final Speaking mark. The balance of the marks is a follows: Speaking 25%; Listening 20%; Reading 30%; Writing 25%.
