Summary of Course Content
The course comprises two mandatory units and one optional unit:

Mandatory Units:
Computer Systems
Software Development

Optional Unit:
One unit will be selected for the students from:
Artificial Intelligence
Computer Networking
Multimedia Technology

Assessment & Examinations
Each unit is assessed internally using both written questions and practical exercises. The course assessment for Computing at Higher level will consist of two components:

  • Practical Coursework Task: this element will contribute 30% of the final award
  • Written examination: this element will contribute 70% of the final award

Folio/Project Work
The practical coursework task, provided by the SQA, presents the candidate with the opportunity to demonstrate and integrate practical skills and knowledge they have developed within component units in a more complex and less familiar context than is possible within the units.
