Entry Level:

Summary of Course Content
There are two mandatory units. One is text-based and consists
of the study of Classical drama in translation. The tragedies
“Antigone” by Sophocles, “Medea” by
Euripides and the comedy, “Lysistrata” by Aristophanes,
will be studied. The other unit is evidence-based and the
topic for study will be “Religion and Belief”
in Greece and Rome. The main skills to be developed from the
study of this course are:

Assessment & Examinations
Both units are assessed internally by extended or short responses.
The external examination consists of one paper:
The first part (40 marks) will require the candidate to comment
on passages of source material relating to “Religion
and Belief” in Greece and Rome. The second part (60
marks) will require the candidate to answer three essay questions
from a choice set on both units of the course, one on the
texts and two on “Religion and Belief” in Greece
and Rome.
