Entry Level:
A pass should be attained in Higher Biology. Candidates should have a clear understanding of Cell Biology (Unit 1) of the Higher course.

Cell & Molecular Biology (1 credit) (mandatory unit)
Environmental Biology (1 credit) (mandatory unit)
Biology Investigation (0.5 credits)
Physiology, Health & Exercise (0.5 credits) (an optional unit)

Assessment & Examinations
Internal assessment includes:
· Class tests (data handling and extended response questions)
· Prelim based on Cell and Molecular Biology and Environmental Biology.

External assessment:
External exam comprising three sections
· Section A 25 multiple choice questions
· Section B Structured data handling and one extended response question based on two mandatory units.
· Section C Structured data handling and one extended response question based on optional unit.

AH investigation:
20% of total mark involves producing a report between 2000 – 2500 words on candidate’s chosen topic.

Folio/Project Work:
None required.
