PRIMARY 1 EXPLORE VIKING HISTORY IN SCOTLAND (08/02/2010)
On 2nd February Primary 1 children from Wellington School travelled up to Largs to visit Vikingar!
Pupils were thrilled to dress up in Viking costume and tried on different clothes representing farmers, traders and a rich man with his wife and their slave (in chains!).
Story tellers led the children through 500 years of history and helped them experience the Viking adventure first hand.
In the education room they were intrigued by the Viking artefacts with which they were allowed to play.
Back in school, P1B pupils designed and assembled their own Viking long ship, which has inspired some very imaginative role play. Children in P1H made a Viking long house out of grocery boxes to play in.
The visit had a great impact on the children, firing their imaginations and inspiring some excellent written work as well as creative art work.
