S1 / S2 RUGBY TEAM WIN AGAIN (06/12/2009)
After a slow start, Wellington turned up the pressure and put the result beyond question against Lenzie Academy.

The match itself was very close for the first 12 minutes when there was no score and neither side got near to the try lines. However, even after Wellington scored a few tries through some slick passing and direct running, Lenzie came back and scored early in the second half followed by another try a short while later.

At the end of the match the two Lenzie coaches, Craig and Stuart, praised the Wellington team on the rugby they had played.

Other spectators commented on the very impressive warm up and preparation of the Wellington team.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the very committed and knowledgable Wellington parents who have given invaluable help to Junior rugby this term, including:

S2 Team: David Courtney
S1 Team: Billy Lynch, Euan McCorkindale
P7 Team: Calum Phillips, Peter Boyle
P6 Team: Paul Davidson, Martin Brown

Thank you, too, to our regular referees.

Match Report by Mark Storm (Vice Captain):
The first 10 minutes or so the game was evenly matched with some good attacking and defensive play from both sides. 13 minutes in, John McCorkindale made a break to score a try to break the deadlock with Jonathan Shaw converting. After that it seemed the Lenzie heads went down a little bit while the Wellington defence was pretty solid. Wellington scored 4 more tries before half time with good play from the forwards and backs. Wellington were 17-0 up at half time.
The second half began with the same aggressiveness from both sides and it was Lenzie who scored first through a couple of missed tackles. Wellington got back up the pitch though, and Jack Preston scored after good team play. The next try came 7 minutes later with Hamish Hamilton scoring and John McCorkindale converting. Lenzie scored another try but never looked like coming back. Jack Preston scored two more tries with Jonathan Shaw converting one.
It was a very good performance from the team on the whole and a good way to finish off 2009 with the full time score 31-7.
