RUGBY SEASON STARTS ON A HIGH (29/08/2009)
The rugby season started on a high for Wellington with convincing wins over St Columba`s School at most levels.

A record crowd turned out for the matches at Doonside on a fine day to watch some very entertaining rugby.

In a continuing commitment to improving the sporting facilities, the grounds maintenance teams have been working hard over the summer months digging in hundreds of tons of extra sand below the playing surfaces to improve the drainage. Further plans include laying an additional large diameter drain on the north side of the pitches.

The results of the drainage (like the results from the rugby) are already spectacular and spectators were pleasantly surprised to find the ground firm and dry despite the recent rain.

A full match report will be added shortly.
