COMENIUS PROJECT ACCEPTED (01/07/2009)
Our application for the Comenius project has been successful and we will start working on this two-year project at the start of the Autumn Term. A Comenius project is funded by the European Union and aims to promote cooperation with schools across Europe.

Last January, Mr Parlour and Mrs Coontz travelled to Munich to meet our future partners and to plan the project, \'The Iron Curtain\'. Staff from schools in France, Germany, Hungary and Slovenia were present. A Polish school also hopes to join the group.

The project will encourage pupils in the Senior School to examine life on both sides of the Iron Curtain during the 1960s. Much of the work will be done using e-mail and video-conferencing but there will the opportunity to meet face-to-face in Hungary in April 2010, in Scotland in October 2010 and in Germany at Easter 2011 for some of the pupils involved. The official working language of the project is French.

Full details of our Comenius project will be available in August. This will be an exciting opportunity for pupils interested in modern languages and recent European history.
