Pupils in the school are always encouraged to behave in
a responsible fashion, to care for others, themselves and
the environment, to have good manners and to be smartly
presented.
Prefects
We are keen to give opportunities for taking more
responsibility and, in Primary 6, we appoint a Head Boy
and Head Girl each session plus four House Captains.
In addition, all pupils in P6 are encouraged to become
Prefects – for this, they must apply in writing and new
appointments are made twice each term. Duties are not
onerous but are expected to be carried out efficiently.
Homework set should employ a pupil for 10 -15 minutes in
Primaries 1 and 2, and for 20 minutes in Primary 3. There
will be a need for differentiation in this aspect of work, as
in any other.
Librarians
Pupils in Primary 6 may also take on the duties of Librarians– it is their job to open the Library at lunchtimes, keep the
books in the right place on the shelves and record all books
borrowed and returned.
Junior Road Safety Officers
Four pupils from P6 are appointed at the start of each session
to be the JRSOs. Their job is to keep road safety in the
forefront of the pupils’ minds and this is achieved through a
series of competitions and Assembly presentations.
Eco-Schools
The whole school has recently been awarded its Green Flag.
Each class elects a representative on to the Eco Committee
which meets regularly to keep things moving forward
by organising various eco-friendly activities such as
recycling, litter picking, saving electricity, composting and
gardening.
