As Wellington is participating in the Health Promoting
School programme, we are keen to develop all aspects
of your child’s health. Throughout the department there
are recurring issues such as manners, social skills and
consideration for others. All teachers deal with these
areas. There is a programme of physical activity in place
involving teachers of PE, dance and swimming.
This year the pupils in Primary 1 will be provided with a
Healthy Snack by Sodexho catering. Parents will be
billed for this on a termly basis. The pupils in P2 and
P3 are encouraged to bring a healthy snack to school.
Water is always available for children to drink and they
are encouraged to bring labelled water bottles in to the
classroom with them. Pupils in Primaries 2, and 3 should
eat their snack in their classrooms after singing Grace
together. They are expected to leave the tables wiped and
the floor tidy. In fine weather, pupils may take snacks out to
the playground at the teacher’s discretion, after the teacher
has enforced the principal of keeping the playground tidy.
Mrs. O’Connell (Senior School) is leading the work in
Health promoting Schools campaign, but all staff promote
healthy life-styles to the pupils, both incidentally and
directly through PSE. |
