The
school has created an integrated Primary Department
for pupils from Nursery (3 years) to Primary 6 (11 years)
at Drumley House.
From Primary 1 through to Primary 6 we have a two-class intake,
the maximum number in each class being twenty. The school
largely follows the Scottish 5-14 programme with an emphasis
on English, Mathematics, Environmental Studies and the Expressive
Arts. Specialist teaching is given in Art, French, Music and
PE. Children in Primaries 1-4 spend the majority of their
week with their class teacher whilst pupils in Primaries 5
& 6 are taught through a subject based approach having
a different teacher for Mathematics and English.
Pupils are given the opportunity to participate in a wide
range
of extra-curricular activities that include choir, orchestra,
first aid, art & craft, inventors club, cricket, tennis
and netball. Many trips and educational visits are organised
throughout the year. Our aim is to promote self-confidence,
active participation and a feeling of mutual respect as well
as having high expectations of academic achievement.
