Wellington School Association
The WSA is a group of 12 volunteers (11 parents and 1 teacher) whose main purpose is to organise various fundraising social events. Our main event of the year is the Wellington Ball, and at the last dinner dance in 2008 we raised over £15,000.
The funds raised go to buy items from which our children directly benefit, and over the past few years we have purchased a new minibus for the school, we have improved the ground behind the nursery and installed a garden for the wee ones to enjoy and learn in. We have also bought staging for Drumley Hall so nativity plays and concerts can be held there.
More recently we have improved the play area in the infant and junior playgrounds including the ground painting of some traditional games and provided benches and colourful litter bins to encourage them to keep their school looking at its best. We were also able to make a donation to the 6th Form Charity, National Children’s Homes.
Through the tireless support of parents, friends and local businesses we have been able to provide a range of exciting additional facilities to enhance our children's experience. We would like to give a huge vote of thanks to all who have supported our activities and encourage you to continue to do so in the coming years.
We are always looking for suggestions for appropriate things to fund and also fundraising suggestions, please e-mail them to
There may be other activities arranged at a later date so look out for notices or fliers in your child’s schoolbag, please also check back here and the Newsflash section of the website for updates.
As always 2009 promises to be full and exciting and here are some of our planned activities:
Barn Dance
Our traditional Ball has been put back to later in the year (see below) and on 16 May we held our first WSA Barn Dance in a real live barn at Torr Farm by Dalrymple. The evening included Line Dancing, a live band, entertainment, a Hog Roast, and a Bar all for the ridiculously low price of £20 a head. A host of parents, friends and family (over 18) were able to attend this informal “do”.
Art Spectacular
Towards the end of the summer term, each year, the WSA and Art Department arrange an exhibition to showcase the talents of our children. It’s great for parents to see how our kids are progressing and the kids love to show off their artistic talents especially when they know there are prizes on offer!
Sports Day BBQ
On the evening of the Senior School Sports Day, Monday 24th June, we hold a barbecue to mark the end of the school year with a fun event of good food and games for the kids.
Wellington Ball
Following on from the great success of the Masquerade Ball we are holding this year's formal event at Lochgreen House Hotel, Troon on Saturday 3 October. Numbers are limited for this event so be sure to order your tickets as soon as they are available.
Christmas Carol Concert
An evening of festive music, mulled wine and mince pies for all to enjoy. Our budding Benedettis entertain and lift the spirits at this busy time of year. Last year's Concert was a great night and thanks must go to Mr Goudie and the entire music department for all their work. Details will be confirmed nearer the time.
