Heads of Junior School Announcement, Roald Dahl Day & A Preview of Les Misérables

Junior School assembly is always a vibrant occasion, but today’s was more so than usual. Firstly, pupils were enthralled by songs from this year’s school show, Les Misérables. You could have heard a pin drop when Katie Carmichael sang ‘I Dreamed a Dream’, followed by Claire Wilson, who gave a haunting performance of ‘On My Own’. If you haven’t yet got your tickets, we are sure parents of Junior School parents will be reminded this evening!

The newly appointed Junior School Librarians also took to the floor to advertise a competition to mark Roald Dahl Day today. The girls selected quotes from their favourite books by the well-loved author, hid them all over the school. Pupils were to find the quotes and then correctly guess which they came from. Good luck to everyone taking part! As enthusiastic readers, the Librarians are so excited about their proposed daily Librarian meetings and the general up-keep of the Junior School Library. They will have their work cut out with Primary 2 though – apparently this is the ‘messiest’ year group, and the pupils least likely to put their books back neatly. Watch out P2, the librarians are keeping an eye on you!

Finally, Mr Cox made a number of important announcements concerning the new Junior School Prefects, House Captains and Heads of School. Mr Johnson handed out badges and congratulated every pupil who was appointed as a post-holder amid gasps and squeals of delight from their peers. Our new Head Boy and Head Girl are Finlay and Katie C, meanwhile, Jessica and Monty take the roles of Deputy Head Girl and Boy. We are sure they will lead admirably After assembly, Primary 6 took to the astro pitches for a celebratory photo. The photographer, Mr Cox, even scaled the Nursery roof to capture the best photo possible! If you don’t believe us, click here for proof!
