Founded in 1836 by the
wife of an Ayr schoolmaster,
the original school was situated in the elegant
Wellington Square, hence the name, and provided
education for twelve young ladies. The school moved
to Carleton Turrets in 1923, this being established
as
the main site of the school. |
|
| Until 1994 it was a girls boarding and
day school. During the past decade the school has undergone
a series of major changes including the cessation of
boarding, a change to co-education and the purchase
and development of new buildings and sporting facilities.
The Wellington Campus now consists of three impressive,
turreted buildings in a unique seafront location within
a quiet residential part of the town of Ayr. The school
has its own playing fields on the outskirts of the town.
