Detailed
reports on each pupil are issued to parents
twice each session, followed by a Parents Meeting
where progress can be discussed in more detail
with staff.
Additionally, interim reports for both under and high
achievers are issued at appropriate points between
the usual reporting times.
The school is committed to working in partnership
with parents with regard to their child’s educational
and personal development and encourages parents
to contact the school or individual members of staff if
you or your child has a particular concern or worry.
There is a very active and supportive Parents’ Association
that hosts a number of meetings and social events
during the session.
At Wellington we believe our school to be a caring
community and one in which young people can flourish.
We consider the happiness and well being of each
child to be of paramount importance in the development
of the well rounded young person. Our established and
unique pastoral care system ensures that each child is
well known as an individual, and that each one will receive
continuous support and encouragement in his or her
personal and social development. In the secondary department,
your child will remain, as far as possible, throughout years
one to five with the same form tutor, a continuity of care,
which establishes a trusting relationship.
Our close partnership with parents ensures that they are
fully involved in the welfare and progress of their child,
at
all stages. This is achieved through a network, which
affords parents easy access to staff.
The house system promotes a sense of belonging and
family connection is observed in the placing of children
into a particular house. House meetings, house and form assemblies,
form time and the Personal and Social
Education programme, collectively, provide opportunities
to develop social skills, self-assurance, confidence in expressing
ideas and a sense of community values.
Emphasis is placed on curricular and vocational guidance,
especially at key stages,in order to provide a planned
pathway to University or College and a further career.
Senior pupils are given detailed careers advice and
individual assistance with University and College
applications.
