Every year, teachers in the school are invited to apply for a ‘Governors’ Award’ in order to make a special project come to life.  These awards have a value of £500 and the objective is to generate interest and make things happen!

This year, Governors’ Awards have been granted to four projects:

  1. Junior School Library

There are exciting plans to refresh the Drumley Library and this award is to help furnish and decorate the room to make it the perfect place in which to settle down and read a good book.

  1. Debating Coaching

This is the third consecutive year in which the Governors have supported the English Department and enabled them to bring in an expert coach to run after-school sessions in Debating and Public Speaking.  These sessions have been given a ‘five star’ rating in previous years and pupils from both Wellington and other local schools have benefited.

  1. Dance Showcase

In the space of only a few years, the Dance Showcase has become one of the most popular and eagerly awaited events in the school calendar.  This award will help those running the event to purchase much-needed equipment to make the show even more spectacular!

  1. Model UN

Wellington pupils this year joined groups from many other schools to take part in Scotland’s own ‘Model United Nations’.  As young people become more and more politically engaged, this award will give our Model UN group the funds that it needs to pursue its ambitions.

We all look forward to seeing these projects come to fruition.  Warm thanks go to the Board of Governors for their enthusiastic support of this initiative.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]
